EAN & GTIN
Sell your products anywhere in the world with our unique global identifiers.

Whether you sell your goods in a shop or online, you will need a specific number to identify them.
That number is the Global Trade Item Number (GTIN) – the number you see beneath a barcode, also known as an EAN or UPC.
The GTIN, or Global Trade Item Number, is a global number used to identify trade items worldwide — items that can be priced, ordered or invoiced at any point in any supply chain. The GTIN is one of the GS1 identification keys.
A GTIN means that different products around the world can be uniquely identified, giving you an accurate and efficient way to access and share information about your goods.
GS1 Tajikistan is the only authorised provider of unique GTINs in Tajikistan. GS1 unique identification numbers and barcodes are used and accepted by retailers and marketplaces around the world, which makes it easier to sell your products anywhere.
The GTIN is a powerful tool for your business, because it provides a common language for your business processes and for your trading partners worldwide, allowing your product to be identified easily and your data to be exchanged.
You can also use GTINs online to uniquely identify your products on marketplaces such as Amazon and eBay.
Google likewise recommends adding them to your Google Shopping listings.
Why use a GTIN?
Trust
Because every number is unique, the GTIN gives your retailers and consumers confidence in what is on the physical and the digital shelf.
Traceability
GTINs are licensed to each GS1 member, so they can be tracked and traced easily and efficiently across the entire global supply chain.
Global reach
The GTIN is the global standard for product identification, and GS1 is the only authorised source of GTINs worldwide.
Greater visibility
GTINs ensure that search engines and online marketplaces recognise your products correctly and present them to consumers, making them easier to find.
Make sure your barcode numbers are unique to your brand.
Not all product identifiers are the same. If you buy numbers from organisations outside GS1, you may find that those numbers are already in use by other companies. They may not even be genuine GTINs. This can lead to serious problems, and in some extreme cases your product may be delisted from a marketplace or rejected by a retailer.
You can avoid this headache by obtaining your GTINs from the official GS1 organisation. Because we are the only authorised source of GTINs, you can be confident that the numbers you assign to your products are unique to your brand. And we can help set you up for success, too.
If you are unsure about your barcode numbers and want to check whether they are licensed to you, you can use our online tool to find out. And if you do not like what you see, contact us and we will help you with the next steps.
